Our Sandycove Swimmers Web Book

Sandycove Island
one of the world leading locations for open water swimming –spanning a successful generation of marathon swimmers

Compiled by: Lisa Cummins, Liz Buckley, Donal Buckley and Ned Denison

After several years of talking about producing a newsletter (and never actually doing one) we changed tack and decide to produce an on-line book. This was inspired by the Tony Sellmeyer’s impressive “Open Water Swimming South Africa – A journal of the Cape Long Distance Swimming Association.” He had previously hosted three lots of Sandycove Island swimmers in Cape Town and graciously agreed to let us steal his idea.
Pete Mulcahy will be quoted as saying that swimming at Sandycove Island was a “spiritual experience”.
